Barcelona are keeping a close eye on the situation of Germany winger Leroy Sane, whose current contract with Bayern Munich expires at the end of the season.

Sane has been reduced to a back-up option under Vincent Kompany for the 2024-25 season after splashing out €53m on France winger Michael Olise from Crystal Palace in the summer.

Sport, a famous Catalan media outlet, reported that Barcelona are closely following the situation between Sane and his club Bayern Munich. If there is no new contract extension until 2025, they are ready to negotiate with the 22-year-old winger’s representatives to agree a contract in advance.

Previously, there was news that Bayern would not close the opportunity to extend Sane’s contract. But the main obstacle is that the club wants to reduce the salary from the current contract. Making the negotiation with the 28-year-old winger have a high chance of failing.

However, Barcelona will face a host of Premier League clubs interested in Sane, including Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle United.
